EAA goes to the European Parliament to advocate for greener cars in Europe

On June 5th in the European Parliament, the European Aluminium Association advocated more ambitious and more objective targets for the reduction of CO2 emissions from passenger cars. Emission targets based on the mass of vehicles are not likely to ensure that the overall reduction goal of an average 130g/km of CO2 will be met. Nor will the legislative measure proposed by the European Commission be able to ensure that the 140g/km target set for 2008 is met any earlier than 2015, if met at all.

Spanish aluminium recycling association ARPAL revamped

The Spanish Aluminium Recycling Association ARPAL made a new start in April with the newly appointed president Mr Clemente Gonz�lez Soler. Clemente Gonz�lez is president of Grupo Alib�rico, a leading European aluminium group of companies active on a wide range of aluminium end-use markets including packaging. Clemente Gonz�lez has a long experience in the aluminium industry for which he has been working for almost 40 years in different leading positions. He is vice-president of the European Aluminium Foil Association EAFA and president of the Container Group of EAFA.
